Leading Technology
Unique network technology
Driven by new wireless communications technologies, inexpensive wireless equipment and increasingly higher bandwidth capacity, today’s wireless networks have transformed how ship passengers expect to use computers and mobile phones when at sea.
Network capacity and service focus. Because today’s communications technologies are designed to follow people wherever they go, it has become increasingly difficult to come up with one-size-fits-all rules for wireless communication. MCP’s focus on technology is continuously evolving to meet the emerging needs of the cruise and ferry industry.
Our primary objective is to increase the use of onboard wireless services. Our technology must provide greater capacity and higher network efficiencies to enable rich multimedia content, advanced device capabilities and broadband user throughputs.
State-of-the-art wireless network communications.
Specially designed solutions for maritime cellular technology, MCP wireless services support existing standards within 2G (GSM, CDMA2000), 2,5G (GPRS, PDSN).
Future proofing its new generation wireless network communications technologies, MCP will apply new applications specifically designed to benefit the cruise and ferry industry. New high bandwidth technology will increase the use of mobile devices and ship revenue.
Geostationary satellite constellations. MCP’s wireless service CellAtSea™ employs satellite technology on the access network, combined with a conventional radio network onboard. CellAtSea™ utilizes a number of different geostationary satellite constellations to provide dependable maritime V-SAT service and calling through standard wireless mobile networks. Ship calls are transferred to the Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) via satellite, linking the vessel with terrestrial networks.
Combined maritime and communications expertise. Our expertise in telecommunications and collaboration with key cruise and ferry operators has given us a unique understanding about maritime wireless services. The development, delivery and operations management of CellAtSea™ - shipping’s most reliable, secure and cost-effective cellular network – is our greatest advantage.
